Qemetica AGILON® Performance Silica Products
Qemetica AGILON® performance silica products are more than traditional reinforcing fillers.

By precipitating silica and silane together and delivering them as a single, finished compounding solution, Qemetica has created a breakthrough technology that uniquely combines product and process, enabling industrial rubber and tire makers to enhance rubber performance, simplify their manufacturing processes and promote a healthier environment.
Tire Applications
Agilon performance silica products facilitate increased silica-loading in tread- and non-tread compounds, offering tire makers the freedom and flexibility they need to redefine the boundaries of the industry’s “magic triangle” by:
- Reducing rolling resistance to make vehicles more fuel efficient
- Improving traction and handling in wet, snowy or icy conditions
- Extending tread life so that tires last longer
Industrial Rubber Applications
Agilon performance silica products also can be used by industrial rubber manufacturers to formulate compounds with better heat build-up resistance, improved tensile strength, higher hot rebound, lower compression set and other performance characteristics.
Environmental and Processing Advantages
By utilizing Agilon performance silica in their manufacturing processes, industrial rubber and tire manufacturers also can reduce process complexity and capital investment and, at the same time, address environmental concerns by:
- Utilizing older mixing technologies to process silica compounds
- Reducing the number of mixing passes, thereby increasing silica mixing throughput
- Reducing energy consumption
- Virtually eliminating mix-related VOC emissions
- Eliminating porosity-related extrusion inefficiencies
- Mixing at high temperatures without increasing viscosity or causing premature vulcanization
- Mixing at lower temperatures to avoid natural rubber degradation
- Enhancing the effectiveness of silane coupling in natural rubber applications

What is amorphous precipitated silica?
Precipitated silica is a form of synthetic amorphous silicon dioxide. It is derived from quartz sand, a crystalline form of silicon dioxide. The physical properties of precipitated silica can be manipulated during the manufacturing process to create products that enhance the performance of finished goods in many different industries.
Qemetica's precipitated silica is a form of synthetic amorphous silica covered by CAS REGISTRY NUMBER: 112926-00-8, (CAS# 7631-86-9 for the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) inventory purposes).
How is amorphous precipitated silica used?
Typical applications for amorphous precipitated silica include: free-flow and carrier agents for food, animal feed, and agricultural and industrial chemicals; flatting, thickening and anti-corrosion additives for paints and coatings; microporous fillers for battery separators; performance-enhancing fillers for tire, industrial and silicone rubber applications; and non-black reinforcing agents for rubber shoe soles and footwear.

In what packaging is Qemetica precipitated silica available?
Qemetica precipitated silica products can be packaged for shipment in small bags and flexible intermediate bulk containers (FIBCs). Bags are unitized for shipping on pallets that are stretch-wrapped with clear plastic film. FIBCs are single- or double-stacked on wood pallets and stretch-wrapped. Please contact Qemetica silica products group Customer Service for information about specific standard packaging sizes, materials of construction and pallet configurations, as well as the availability of additional packaging options, including custom package sizes and bulk shipments.
Does Qemetica have 3rd party certifications for its products and/or manufacturing facilities?
Qemetica’s precipitated silica production facilities are quality-certified under ISO 9001:2008 (Registrar: Det Norske Veritas). Qemetica’s products are certified Kosher for Passover and year-round use by the Orthodox Union.
