The Qemetica Group systematically implements actions aimed at reducing the impact of its operations on the environment, including the reduction of pollutant emissions into the atmosphere. Striving for decarbonization, Qemetica plans to achieve climate neutrality by 2040. Therefore, various initiatives are being implemented within the companies, aimed at lessening the impact on the natural environment and simultaneously minimizing the use of energy from fossil fuels.
Increasing the share of energy from renewable sources is one of CIECH's environmental commitments outlined in the Group's ambitious ESG strategy. Investments in renewable energy, including photovoltaics, are one of the key initiatives contributing to the achievement of low-emission goals and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
Photovoltaic panels operate in five companies located in Poland. The plants of Qemetica Sarzyna, Qemetica Cargo, Qemetica Vitro and Qemetica Nieruchomości currently possess a capacity of 50 kW each. On the other hand, Qemetica Pianki plant in Bydgoszcz has a total capacity of approx. 100 kW - the two micro-installations of 49.14 kW and 49.5 kW currently in operation. Thanks to the first one, operating since June last year, 53 MWh have been produced. The second one, commissioned in January of this year, has generated 29 MWh of energy. Also, Qemetica Pianki intends to launch another installation by the end of 2023, which will have a capacity of 300 kW.
"We are consistently driving an energy transformation within our facilities. One example of this is the expansion of our PV capacity. We're not only investing in additional renewable sources, but also enhancing our contribution to environmental protection. Through photovoltaic installations, we reduce carbon dioxide emissions and fulfill sustainable development goals," says Michał Budzyński, President of the Management Board of Qemetica Pianki.
Currently, the company is awaiting the issuance of a construction permit. Upon the completion of the investment, Qemetica Pianki will have a total capacity of 400 kW. The main contractor for the installation at the Bydgoszcz-based plant will again be Kwartz, a company specializing in this type of projects.
The facility in Romania, operating within the Qemetica Group, also possesses photovoltaic installations, which capacity is currently around 400 kW. The Group also intends to install photovoltaics across all its plants in the future.
